Ready to give your quilt the beautiful finish it deserves? I would love to help! At my cozy sewing studio in Mt. Vernon, Iowa, I offer computer-guided, edge-to-edge longarm quilting using my Nolting longarm and Quiltmagine system. This allows me to provide smooth, consistent stitches and a polished finish every time. You’re welcome to browse a variety of pantograph designs on my longarm quilting page and choose the style that best complements your quilt. I can quilt projects of all sizes—from small table runners to quilts up to 110 inches wide. Pricing begins at $0.02 per square inch, with a $65 minimum. Before dropping off your quilt, please take a moment to look over the guidelines and tips on the longarm quilting page—they’ll help ensure the best possible results. Kid's Sewing Classes
At Blooming Acres Sewing Studio, we love helping young makers discover the joy of sewing! We offer a variety of kid-friendly opportunities—including Kid’s Sewing Classes, Wednesday Sewing Club, Summer Sewing Camps, and Private Lessons—designed especially for ages 8 to 16.
All sewing machines, tools, and materials are provided, so your kiddo can simply come ready to learn and create. We start everyone with Intro to Sewing, which builds a strong foundation before moving on to other classes. From there, students follow our curriculum-based program, building their skills as they complete fun, skill appropriate projects at each level.
We would love to welcome your kiddo into our sewing community—whether they’re just starting out or excited to grow their sewing skills even further!
All sewing machines, tools, and materials are provided, so your kiddo can simply come ready to learn and create. Looking for a cozy, creative place to sew with friends? At Blooming Acres Sewing Studio, you’ll find a warm and inviting space designed to make your sewing time relaxing, fun, and productive. Just bring your machine and fabric--we take care of the rest! Reserve a spot for a single day or enjoy several days in a row. You can begin setting up at 8 a.m., and stay to sew for as long as you like. Convenient same-level unloading is available behind the building to make arrival easy.
The cost is $10 per person, per day. Janome sewing machines are also available to rent for $10, per day. A quick call or email is all it takes to check availability and secure your sewing day.
Our bright, open-concept studio features fifteen comfortable workstations, a spacious cutting area with mats, rotary cutters, and rulers, two ironing stations, quilt design walls, a cozy kitchenette with a dining table, free Wi-Fi, a 55-inch TV, and lots of beautiful natural light. It’s a space created for community, creativity, and connection.
Blooming Acres is located in the lower level of the historic First Street Building in Mount Vernon. If you’re visiting from out of town, nearby lodging is available at the Sleep Inn Mount Vernon or the Brackett House Bed & Breakfast on the Cornell College campus.
